Privacy Policy — HOW BAD?

Effective as of 24 August 2026

This privacy policy applies to the HOW BAD? app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by Michael Boxma (collectively, the "Application"). Michael Boxma is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".

What the Application itself collects

The Application does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to the Service Provider. All information the Application uses — your chosen language, the number of players, the names you enter, which situations you have already played, and whether you have purchased the full version — is stored locally on your own device and is never sent anywhere. The Service Provider has no server and no database, and therefore holds no personal data about you. Uninstalling the Application, or clearing its data in your device settings, removes all of this information permanently.

The Application does not ask you to create an account, and does not request your email address, phone number, location, contacts, camera, or microphone.

Advertising

The Application displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob is operated by Google and collects data independently of the Service Provider. This may include your device's advertising identifier, your IP address, and information about how advertisements are shown and interacted with. This data is collected and used by Google, not by the Service Provider, and is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

Within the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, the Application asks for your consent through Google's User Messaging Platform before any advertisement is loaded. If you do not give consent, no advertisements are shown.

You can limit or reset your advertising identifier at any time in your device settings, under Google settings or Privacy, depending on your device.

In-app purchase

The Application offers one optional one-time purchase that removes advertisements and unlocks the brutal edition. This purchase is processed entirely by Google Play (on Android) or the App Store (on iOS). The Service Provider does not receive or store your payment details. Only the fact that a purchase was made is stored locally on your device.

Third-party services

The Application uses the following third-party services, each with its own privacy policy governing the data it handles:

International data transfers

The Service Provider does not transfer any personal data, because it does not collect any. Google may transfer data it collects through AdMob to countries outside the European Economic Area. Google states that it applies appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission. Details are set out in Google's privacy policy linked above.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the Service Provider holds no personal data about you, there is nothing on its side to access or delete. You can:

If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. The Service Provider does not collect, sell, or share personal information. Requests relating to data collected by Google through AdMob should be directed to Google.

Children

The Application is intended for adults. It contains crude humour and references to sexual situations, and is rated accordingly in the app stores. It is not directed at children, and the Service Provider does not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the Application, uninstalling it removes all data stored on the device.

Security

Because no personal data leaves your device, there is no data held by the Service Provider that could be exposed in a breach. Data handled by Google is protected under Google's own security measures.

Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the Application collects data in a different way, this policy will be updated before that version is released.

Contact

If you have any questions about this privacy policy or about privacy while using the Application, please contact the Service Provider by email at howbadgame@hotmail.com.
